We stop at small local businesses, eat plenty of good food and meet some of the people behind it. As we walk through the markets, stories about migration, family, community and a city that never stops changing begin to unfold.

WHERE ARE WE GOING?
Two markets, two sides of Tel Aviv
One tour begins in the narrow lanes of Kerem HaTeimanim and continues into the bustle of Carmel Market. The other follows the people and food traditions that shaped Levinsky Market and the neighbourhood around it. Each has its own rhythm, flavours and stories.
Levinsky Market
At Levinsky Market, a spice shop or delicatessen can tell a story that begins far beyond Tel Aviv. We follow the people and food traditions that arrived here over the years and see how they continue to shape the market and the neighbourhood around it.
Kerem HaTeimanim & Carmel Market
We begin in the narrow lanes of Kerem HaTeimanim, Tel Aviv’s Yemenite Quarter, where the food carries the story of the Yemenite Jewish families.
From there, we continue into Carmel Market, where old stalls, new places and the people behind them tell the story of a market that has changed alongside the city.

Hi, I’m Tal
I’m an anthropologist, a foodie and a Tel Avivian who loves this city. I used to live in Kerem HaTeimanim and later moved near Levinsky Market, so both places are part of my own Tel Aviv story, not just somewhere I visit for work.
I started LocaLocal in 2019 because I wanted to bring together the things I care about most: interesting food, people, and history that make a place what it is.
On my tours, I’ll share the city as I know it and probably give you a few ideas for what to eat next.
